It was special that the first university on the 2019 exhibit tour took place at the Boston campus of the University of Massachusetts. It was hosted by the Joiner Institute for the Study of War and Social Consequences, the center that gave Bill Short and Willa Seidenberg a grant to document the GI Movement with portraits and oral interviews of early GI Movement leaders. The Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, Massachusetts, featured these portraits and interviews in an exhibit and book, A Matter of Conscience. The UMass- Boston exhibit was displayed in the Grossman Gallery of the Healey Library. The opening reception was followed by an intergenerational dialogue between veterans of the Vietnam War and those of the more recent Gulf Wars. The exhibit was co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
