Exhibit Visits Veterans For Peace Convention In Spokane, Washington- August, 2019

In early 2019, to gain more attention at schools and colleges, Ron Carver, David Cortright and Barbara Doherty edited a companion book, Waging Peace in Vietnam: US Soldiers and Veterans Who Opposed the War. Carver chose Cortright as a co-editor since he wrote the definitive book on the GI Movement Soldiers In Revolt. Barbara Doherty is a professional journalist and editor. The book expands on the information in the exhibit with oral histories from interviews by Willa Seidenberg, portraits by Bill Short, additional photographs and documents; some never seen before. Just as the companion book was being printed, Ron brought the exhibit to the annual convention of Veterans for Peace, in Spokane. Our publisher, New Village Press, arranged for the printer to ship a box of the books the day after they came off the press. It was there that we kicked off the national tour of the exhibit and the very first, pre-publication book launch. Many of the Veteran activists featured in the book attended the book launch, including former POW Bob Chenoweth, who lives in nearby Moscow, Idaho. A number of the Veterans for Peace members who first saw the exhibit at the Spokane convention would go on to help bring it to universities in their hometowns.
