Oral History Association Annual Meeting- October, 2020
The Oral History Association invited the Waging Peace in Vietnam Education Fund to bring our exhibit and offer a workshop at their annual meeting in Baltimore. The year’s theme was “The Quest for Democracy: One Hundred Years of Struggle.”
Our panel consisted of Lamont B. Steptoe, a black Vietnam veteran who tells his story through poetry; Vietnam veteran Greg Payton, who has traveled worldwide telling of his experience as a U.S. black soldier under a predominantly white, racist officer corps; Willa Seidenburg, who teaches journalism at the University of Southern California and conducted and edited most of the oral histories in Waging Peace in Vietnam; and Barbara Doherty, co-editor of Waging Peace in Vietnam and a professional editor and writer for labor unions in North America.
